In Search of Sanctuary | James Cousins Company

Photography by Camilla Greenwell.

In Search of Sanctuary follows four dancers as they explore their changing relationship with dance over the events of the past year. This virtual gallery presents a series of intimate photographs which sit alongside a short film to capture the vulnerability of dancers the audience rarely see.

Join us for a free pre-show live Q&A on zoom, where DanceEast’s Artistic Director and Chief Executive Brendan Keaney will find out more from James Cousins (Artistic Director), Camilla Greenwell (Photographer) and Anna-Kay Gayle (Dance Artist) – you’ll be able to ask your own questions too!

Please note: the pre-show talk will begin at 7.30pm, you’ll need to book in advance on this page and we’ll send everything you need to access the talk the day before. The zoom session will be recorded and available on this webpage until Monday 1 February 9.00am, so we will ask everyone who joins us to switch their cameras and microphones off – but don’t worry, you’ll be able to ask questions and engage through the chat box.

The dance film and online photography exhibit will be available to all for free from 8.00pm.

Conceived by James Cousins and Camilla Greenwell. Created in collaboration with Jemima Brown, Rhys Dennis, Anna-Kay Gayle and Julie Ann Minaai and features a specially commissioned sound score by Torben Lars Sylvest.
