The Peninsula Art Group visited the Jerwood DanceHouse while our performance company, Dance Unlimited, rehearsed. Upon witnessing the dancers move within the space, the local art group responded by creating artwork, which is available for sale – click on each piece to find out more.
“Working in the DanceEast Studio with the dancers evoked a whole raft of emotions. The energy of movement at one point brought tears to my eyes as I was enveloped within the whole essence of dance. Mary imparted an amazing energy to the dancers which was absorbed by the artists. Unlimited it was. The whole studio changed; from moving weightlessness with their feet appearing to be lifted off the ground, moving from an enclosed pod through the transition into outside light, transcending space and time. This was the starting point for our artists group who interpreted the encompassed experience on the paper. We captured the dancers; travelling across the floor, group rotational movement, the essence and mood embodying the dancing group. We were not just observers; we became a part of Mary’s dance group which was a great privilege.” – Nick Carter
