Young dancers are prone to developing inefficient movement patterns through the over-recruitment of muscle fibres. Often we see our dancers relying on their global strength, rather than finding the synergy between the core musculature and the global muscle systems. In particular this seminar shines a light on optimising efficient leg and hip mechanics through practices employed at the DanceEast Centre for Advanced Training.
Led by physiotherapist Rachel Canavan and dance scientist Elsa Urmston, this practical and discursive session is aimed at private dance school teachers and mainstream dance educators. Together we will explore lower limb strength and conditioning for performance enhancement and rehabilitation from injury.
